[edit] Good rides
Good places to go for a ride:
- In-city riding is tough but fun, given the narrow streets, traffic and hills. Not for the meek.
- Riding across Golden Bridge to Tiburon (and finishing up with drinks at Sam's) is always fun.
- Can also take ferry to Sausalito or Larkspur and bike from there. There are nice trails in Marin, and the residential areas you go through there are also calm and pretty. Or you can bike there and take ferry back.
- Sunday Streets is an event that the SF Bicycle Coalition has been putting on for the last few years where they open up the streets to pedestrians, cyclists, etc, in different neighborhoods around the city. Great fun for the whole family. Happens during the dry months.
- On Sundays, JFK Avenue is closed to automobiles from the east entrance of the park to 19th Avenue. This is a great place to bike with the whole family -- wide open street with no cars.
- For more serious, longer rides, the roads in Sonoma County, especially west of Petaluma, are beautiful and quiet.
